RANIERI HAS GOT KAMARA FOCUSED

- BY IAN BAKER

ABOUBAKAR KAMARA insists Fulham are no longer the group of “individuals” who played under Slavisa Jokanovic.

And he hailed new boss Claudio Ranieri for restoring the word “team” to Craven Cottage.

Ranieri has won just once in seven matches so far, but Kamara is adamant the mood has changed and is sure the Italian’s positivity is rubbing off on everyone.

Ahead of today’s six pointer at home to bottom club Huddersfield, the French striker said: “The gaffer has given us what we need – togetherness. It’s very important at this stage that we keep the passion, the same energy, same will to win games.

“We’re more passionate right now than we’ve ever been. It’s very important we remind ourselves that this is a team game, it’s up to the squad now to come together as one instead of being individual.

“I believe we will be able to avoid the relegation fight if we come together as a team. Right now we’re playing much better.

“I’ve a good feeling about the gaffer. He’s a really great man and you can see the result on the field. We’re giving 100 per cent of what he is asking. I think he’s a great coach.”

Fulham are certainly showing signs of caring more, with Aleksandar Mitrovic suggesting he was close to tears after misfiring against Wolves on Boxing Day.

And Kamara (above) added: “I wouldn’t go as far to say we are now emotional but Claudio is someone you want to give 100 per cent for.

“He’s the sort of person you’d like to fight for and win games and score for. That’s what he’s instilled into the squad. He’s enthused us as players. But at the end of the day it comes down to the squad.

“He can say whatever he can to the players but it’s up to the players to play with passion when we step onto the pitch.

“The gaffer can do whatever he’s doing but it’s up to us to step up and improve.

“I’m not going to stand here and lie to you: if you work hard you can get whatever you want. If you don’t work hard you will stay down.”
