Brave little Fionn loses his fight against leukaemia

Fionn and family AN adorable little boy with leukaemia who received ten thousand birthday cards from all over the world passed away yesterday.

Fionn Doyle was diagnosed at just 18 months and underwent treatment before going into remission in the summer of 2016.

However, the seven-year-old suffered a relapse six months later. A bone marrow transplant in December 2017 failed to help.

In May of last year his parents Eimear and Jack Doyle were told to prepare themselves for the worst when Fionn ended up on a ventilator but his condition improved and he returned home to North Cork. It is understood the

family decided to celebrate Christmas early in case his condition worsened.

Fionn got through the festive period but died surrounded by his family.

A Gofundme page was set up last year for the Doyles – who also have an eight-year-old daughter Saoirse – as the parents were unable to work in order to care for Fionn. He was described on the page as “an amazing little boy” who loved dinosaurs, Power Rangers and robots.

Fionn received cards for his birthday from America, Australia and South Africa after Eimear made an appeal to make it an occasion to remember.
