FORMER GAA star Denis Bastick has told how he is more comfortable at a rave than he is on Dancing With The Stars.

The Dublin football champ, who has five Allireland medals under his belt, said he is completely out of his comfort zone on the hit RTE show.

Denis, 37, told the Irish Mirror: “I’m the last person on the dancefloor at a wedding.

“I love music, dance music in particular. I’m a bit of a raver.

“It doesn’t suit well with some of the dances but Sunday I have an up-tempo song which I’m looking forward to.”

The dad of one also revealed he is not on a mission to follow in the footsteps of former GAA All-star and DWTS season one winner Aidan O’mahony.

He said: “Aidan and I spoke before I started and he was complimentary about getting involved and it was one of the reasons why I did.

“There will be a lady win at some stage so that could be this year. I didn’t come in setting out to win it. I’m just trying to do the best I can but obviously when you get involved in something like this you want to go as far as you can.

“It would be great to be there near the end. “Everyone wants to do well. Nobody is really cutting corners, which is good.” The sports hero, who is partnered with pro dancer Valeria Milova, said he is fully committed to DWTS and doesn’t even mind the fake tan and sequins. He added: “It’s something new and different. If you get involved in a show like this you just have to embrace it and go all in.”

The pressure is mounting this week as Sunday will see one of the 11 celebrities booted off DWTS with the first elimination of season three.

Denis said: “I need to up my game and put the head down this week and learn as much as I can.

“Valeria is a great teacher and she puts together great dances. If I just do as I’m told I won’t go too far wrong.”
