A SCIENTIST has been eaten alive by a 17ft crocodile after it dragged her into its enclosure while she fed it.

Deasy Tuwo was attacked when the beast called Merry leapt 8ft up a concrete wall to grab her as she was giving it lumps of meat.

Horrified colleagues found the 44-yearold still in the croc’s jaws and struggled to free her as it thrashed around.

One, Erling Rumengan, said: “When we looked at the crocodile pool, there was Deasy’s body. It’s possible the crocodile jumped from the side. Maybe it’s because the crocodile was still full, it didn’t finish eating her body.”

Former worker Merry Supit said: “She was head of the lab. A quiet person. We’re confused about how this happened.”

Deasy died at the scene at CV Yosiki Laboratory, in Tomohon, on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, on Friday.

Staff said Merry, who was caught yesterday, once killed another crocodile in its pool.

Police are trying to trace Merry’s owner, believed to be a Japanese businessman who opened the lab. He was not at the centre at the time of the tragedy. Tomohon police chief Raswin Sirait said: “The owner must acknowledge this horrible incident. We have neither seen him nor know where he is. We also need to know if he is legally permitted to own crocodiles and other aquatics in his company.”
