salaries continue to grow in ‘buoyant’ employment market

-

SALARIES are continuing to rise across the board, a report confirmed yesterday.

But the latest Cpl Resources Salary Guide found that due to an acute skills shortages and high demand, some field’s wages are rising much faster and higher than others.

However, there is an overall average increase of 3.9% across the board, following the trend of the past five years.

In the science industry, the most in-demand candidates are less senior and are those at specialist level with three to five years’ experience.

Many candidates are seeking to move into the pharmaceutical industry where salaries are typically higher and career development opportunities are more common. Cpl Resources spokesman Rob Daly said: “Ireland’s employment market is currently in a very buoyant position.

“Good candidates are becoming harder to find and clients have reduced the interview process to avoid losing potential talent.

“Our salary guide is very popular, allowing candidates to benchmark their own payment level. In our most recent employment market monitor, our survey showed twothirds of employees told us they don’t believe they are being paid enough money.

“Further, we are seeing the confusion surrounding Brexit is causing market uncertainty, making the contract position market stronger.”
