MY FIANCEE CHEATED ON HEN DO

I’ve been with my girlfriend for three years and we got engaged last summer. We’re getting married in a month’s time and she recently went to Barcelona for a weekend with a group of her best friends for the hen do.

When she came home she was quiet and sheepish, which she put down to being hungover. But I felt suspicious so I looked at her phone. I found a Whatsapp conversation between her and her best friend where she says she had sex with some guy staying in the same hotel on the last night. She says in the messages she regrets it and feels awful, but I’m heartbroken. I want to confront her about it but I don’t know how to. And I guess I’m scared to, because if I do it may result in the wedding being called off. The invitations have gone out to all our friends and family. I just don’t know what to do.

You need to let her know you know. Otherwise it’s going to play on your mind and ruin your wedding anyway. How can you watch her walk down the aisle knowing this happened and not speak to her about it?

Sit her down, admit you went through her phone and tell her you know she’s cheated. Then see what she says.

It may be it was a huge mistake for her and she’s terribly sorry. It sounds like this is what she’ll say. Or it could be she’s unhappy in your relationship.

Either way, you need to know her side of the story then decide what to do from there.

It sounds like this was a stupid mistake she regrets and she’ll probably be terrified she’ll lose you. So think about whether or not you can forgive her and move on. Don’t even think about the wedding for now. Just sit down with her and try to work this out.
