The positions will be created by their redevelopment of three hotels and the addition of three restaurants.
Enterprise Minister Heather Humphreys announced the jobs boosts by Supermac’s and SO Hotels Group, owned by Pat and Una Mcdonagh.
Two-thirds of the posts will be created in new Supermac’s outlets in Wexford, Waterford and Kinnegad, Co Westmeath, where work has already started.
The other 100 jobs will be created through the redevelopment and refurbishment of the Athlone Springs Hotel, the Castle Oaks House Hotel in Co Limerick and the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise.
The €500,000 investment to upgrade accommodation at the Killeshin comes on the back of a recent refurbishment of the bar, main lobby and meeting rooms.
Mr Mcdonagh described the property as a “real success story”. The Athlone Springs Hotel was purchased by the SO Group last summer and €1.5million will be spent developing and refurbishing the venue. Minister Humphreys said: “It gives me great pleasure to announce the creation of 300 jobs by the Supermac’s and SO Hotels Group at six locations.
“I would like to warmly congratulate Pat and Una Mcdonagh and everyone involved on their wonderful achievement and wish them all the best in the exciting new chapter ahead.
“It is especially pleasing to see an Irish company creating local jobs, not only directly but through the wide base of Irish suppliers and those involved in the building developments.”
