MURRAY IN A HURRY

- BY DAVE ARMITAGE

West Brom Brighton (After extra time; 1-1 at 90 mins)

1 3 GLENN MURRAY came off the bench to turn this cup tie on it’s head for Brighton with two goals as an extratime hero.

The veteran striker broke Baggies hearts with goals in the 104th and 117th minutes.

Before that, Florin Andone had been the scourge of West Brom after grabbing an 82ndminute equaliser.

The Romanian striker shouldn’t even have been on the field after throwing an elbow at Baggies midfielder Sam Field in the first half.

But Andone got away with it and he slammed a left-foot shot into the net to level this tie up. Up to then it looked like Kyle Bartley’s bizarre 77th-minute goal would be enough to clinch it for the Baggies.

The West Brom defender hooked the ball in at the far post after a Wes Hoolahan free-kick had looped up into the air and dropped down on the line.

Bartley was half off the pitch, but aided by Leon Balogun, who just seemed to walk away from it, he somehow managed to get his shot in to break the deadlock.

But it was Andone’s brutal elbow on Field which seemed to KO what little FA Cup magic was on show at The Hawthorns.

The striker will surely be hauled before the FA for flattening the West Brom midfielder midway through the first half.

Field twitched on the floor after being poleaxed, his mouth bloodied in an incident referee Paul Tierney clearly didn’t see.

With so many of the Premier League’s big guns already out, it was hard to believe that both managers made so many changes – 10 for Brighton and seven for the Baggies.

Brighton (manager Chris Hughton, circle) will now host Derby in the fifth round.
