Man struck by pallet at port

A MAN was injured yesterday when he was struck by a timber pallet of cargo being lifted off a ship by a crane.

The incident at Limerick Port happened on board the vessel around 4.30pm.

Three Fire and Rescue Service units were sent to the scene, while gardai and paramedics also attended.

The man, in his 50s, was taken to University Hospital Limerick with non-life threatenin­g injuries. The Health and Safety Authority are investigat­ing.
