Smoking and Parkinson’s
Very few health outcomes are improved by cigarette smoking, but studies have consistently found that people who smoke have a lower risk of Parkinson’s disease. The latest large European study is no exception. Two aspects of the new data suggest that this is a true causal effect.
First, it seems the heavier the smoking, the greater the protection. And, secondly, the protective effect extends to non-smokers exposed to passive smoke.
But it’s not a reason to smoke!
