‘LOCK OUT BUT CONN’S ON WAY
Gavin and Sherlock (right) with ‘Jayo’, a documentary on Sherlock’s life and career which aired on RTE over Christmas, thought to be the tipping point that led to the parting of ways.
Clarke, another from the ‘95 side, was added to the coaching team 12 months ago but has enjoyed a more prominent role in the set up since Sherlock’s departure. Meanwhile, it is believed Connolly
has resumed training with his club St Vincent’s and has been doing one-to-one sessions with Bryan Cullen, Dublin GAA’S high performance manager and strength and conditioning coach to the senior team.
The 31-year-old (left) hasn’t featured for Dublin since the early stages of last year’s League having withdrawn from the panel and though he hasn’t returned to full training with Gavin’s squad, the link-up with Cullen
suggests he will be phased in ahead of the summer.
Gavin was coy on the possibility of a Connolly return recently but the five-time All-ireland winner was in the crowd at Dublin’s runaway victory over Galway in the second round of the Allianz League at Croke Park last Saturday night.
A spokesman for the Dublin senior football team was uncontactable last night.
