Punk and alt rock figurehead Bob Mould forever earned his place in rock history with hardcore legends Husker Du. Recent solo albums have been downbeat and heavy going. But, despite the death of both his parents and the 2017 passing of Husker Du colleague Grant Hart, Sunshine Rock lives up to its title. The brightest, most uplifting music Mould’s made since Copper Blue in 1992 has anthemic tunes ringing with virulent guitar. Past conflicts surrender to blitzkriegs of hope and optimism.
