Star rapped for outstaying welcome
SO Grammy-nominated rapper 21 Savage has been arrested by US immigration officials.
Border agents detained the 26-year-old on the grounds he was British.
Well, more crucially that he was a Brit who’d overstayed his visa by 13 years.
Now they are looking to deport the artist, whose real name is Shayaabin Abrahamjoseph, back to the UK.
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman said: “His whole public persona is false.”
What doesn’t help the rapper’s case is his glorification of guns while growing up in Atlanta or the fact he pleaded guilty to felony drug charges in October 2014.
The whole story has left me wondering how the heck a 12-year-old got to the US in the first place and stayed.
Immigration officials said: “As a minor, his family overstayed their work visas, and he, like almost two million other children, was left without legal status through no fault of his own.”
Savage’s lawyer said the rapper never hid the fact he was illegal. He didn’t I’m sure, but he probably didn’t write a song about it.
