WORLD NO.1 SELBY GETS TRUMPED AGAIN
JUDD TRUMP ruined Mark Selby’s fourth anniversary as world No.1 at the World Grand Prix yesterday.
The Juddernaut (left) thrashed Selby 5-1 at the Centaur in Cheltenham to surge into the last four. It was a repeat quarter-final success from world No.5 Trump, who also beat Selby (right) at the same stage on the way to a Masters triumph last month.
Trump will face Barry Hawkins in tonight’s semi-final. The world No.7 from Kent beat last week’s German Masters champion Kyren Wilson 5-2.
“I always feel confident playing Mark, his style seems to suit me,” said Trump, 29. “He plays not negative, but more than some of the younger players. It has taken me about 15 years to find the right balance and start playing the right shots.
“I am really competing with Mark and Ronnie O’sullivan now in all aspects of the game.”
