RASH’S DESTINY NEVER IN DOUBT

- BY JOHN CROSS

IF there is one big star who has benefitted from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign it is Marcus Rashford – and Gary Lineker now believes he can reach the top of European football.

Lineker said: “He’s one of a lot of young, exceptional English players coming through and it’s great. “I’ve liked him for a long time and he is learning quickly. “People said he wasn’t calm in front of goal, but I never really saw that.

“I saw him miss chances, we all miss chances. I never saw him as a panicky finisher. “He was never one who just blasted it, I never liked strikers who just blast it. True, some of the best used to blast it.

“But I’ve always thought Marcus (above) was quite a cute finisher – he just needed to play.

“He had been playing wide left, which he can do. He’s good at that, he can take players on. But he had not had many opportunities to play through the middle.

“His movement is good, he’s got great energy, a wonderful touch, can beat players and can score goals. He’s got everything.

“It seems like he’s got a really good head on his shoulders as well.

“I don’t know him personally but I’ve always liked him a lot and thought he’d be a top player.”
