BENITEZ IS LOOKING ON BRIGHT SIDE

- BY SIMON BIRD

Molineux: Monday, 8pm RAFA BENITEZ is banking on a warm weather training camp in Spain to see Newcastle through their relegation battle.

It is a repeat of last season’s trip, which sparked a three-game winning streak and eventually a 10th-place finish.

The Toon boss will use the time away for double training sessions, tactical work and integrating new recruits Miguel Almiron and Antonio Barreca.

The squad will travel to La Finca resort, near Alicante, after Monday night’s clash at Wolves, with key games at home to Huddersfield and Burnley on the horizon.

Benitez (above) said: “A lot of clubs maybe spend too much time in the sun, we spend time on the pitch.

“We came back from Spain and won three games in a row. If we can do the same it will be quite good.

“We go for training, good conditions, good weather and everybody sticking together. It’s an opportunity to get to know each other and fix the things we need to fix in terms of tactics.”

Wolves keeper Rui Patricio plans to wreck Almiron’s hopes of scoring on his Toon debut.

Newcastle’s £20million record buy is due to play at Molineux on Monday and will be eager to become an instant hit.

Portugal international Patricio said: “It’s going to be a difficult game, as all the games are. We’re up against an excellent team, but let’s do as we’ve been doing, fight to win, play our game and be focused.

“We’re at home, in our stadium, in front of our fans. We’re in a good position to fight hard for the win.”
