PUEL PLAYS IT COOL OVER X-RATED VARDY

- BY DAVE ARMITAGE

CLAUDE PUEL insists he has no axe to grind with Leicester star Jamie Vardy over his “f ****** knobhead” outburst.

The striker (left with Puel) caused a storm when TV cameras picked up a comment he made leaving the pitch after

The north London derby the Foxes’ home defeat by Manchester United.

Boss Puel engaged United midfielder and fellow Frenchman Paul Pogba in conversation.

Eagle-eyed viewers took to social media after Vardy appeared to say, “Why’s he talking to them – f ****** knobhead.” But Puel said: “I have a good relationship with him. We know Jamie – after he lost he is angry. It’s normal for a player.

“If I thought one of my players was disrespectful to me or the club there would be a sanction but that was not the case.

“I have a relationship with my players, same as any player in the team. After we discuss things with the player – these things are between us. I have said what I want to say about this.”

Puel has more to worry about with the news Marc Albrighton is out for the rest of the season with a torn hamstring.
