Harris is in the fight of his life

-

SIMON Harris is at the head of a rolling nightmare in health.

It is a seemingly never-ending succession of mishaps, mistakes and communication failures.

He has promised to fix the HSE to end the ever-decreasing cycles of mayhem.

And he has another big week ahead of him as opposition sharks sniff blood in the water and are hunting in a feeding frenzy of no-confidence bait.

The health service is a disaster and the Simon Harris love-in must end.

He is essentially the chief of the health service – the manager where the buck must stop.

It is his responsibility, blaming everyone else for the mess means he is to blame. He hired them.

There is a lot of anger out there and thousands marched through Dublin in support of our brave nurses at the weekend.

Mr Harris now faces into one of the most trying weeks of his short political career.

However, there is a line one should definitely not cross.

Protesting outside the Health Minister’s home, where his infant child and wife live, is excessive and has been rightly condemned.

Vigorous protest should be fully embraced as part of any healthy democracy.

But politicians’ families are not fair game.
