President and wife Sabina begin UK visit
Michael D Higgins PRESIDENT Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina will begin their visit to the UK today.
Their three-day trip kicks off in Birmingham where the President will meet with the lord mayor.
The couple will then attend a civic reception, hosted in his honour by Birmingham City Council, followed by a visit to a memorial commemorating the Birmingham pub bomb victims of November 1974.
Tomorrow they will be greeted by the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall at the Victoria Gallery and Museum at the University of Liverpool.
This will be the first official visit by President Higgins to Birmingham and his third to Liverpool.
