Irish woman hurt in New Zealand cliff plunge horror Orlagh, 25, in serious condition after 30ft fall

THE distraught parents of an Irish woman who fell from a cliff in New Zealand have flown to be by her side.

A huge appeal has been launched after Orlagh Hanratty plunged around 30ft while on a trip in Dunedin in the east of the country.

The 25-year-old, from Bray, Co Wicklow, is in a serious condition and has “a long road ahead”, according to pals who say she has shown good signs so far.

A fundraiser has been launched for Ms Hanratty, who is known for her love of climbing and skydiving.

The Gofundme page states: “Our beautiful friend Orlagh Hanratty had a serious accident in New Zealand on Thursday, February 7.

“Orlagh is a Bray native that many of you will know and some of you may also know her dad Tommy from Everest Cycles in Bray.

“Tommy and Jenny received the phone call every parent dreads, their daughter has been in an accident on the other side of the world.

“Tommy and Jenny are now with Orlagh in New Zealand.

“This is the beginning of a long Cliff in Dunedin journey of recovery as the full extent of her injuries are still unknown.

“We want to support Orlagh in whatever way we can.

“She will need her mum and dad by her side indefinite­ly.

“We are trying to raise funds to support Orlagh in her rehabilita­tion and take some of the worry away.

“If there is any way you can help, please do. Please share this, get it far and wide.

“Orlagh has always lived life to the full and would help anyone. It is now our time to help her.”
