Jedward’s heartbreak as mum loses cancer battle

RTE star Eoghan Mcdermott yesterday led tributes to pop duo Jedward as the stars revealed their mother lost her cancer battle.

The 2fm DJ sent his condolence­s on Twitter to the brothers who shot to fame on the X Factor after they confirmed Susanna Condron had passed away.

He wrote: “Ah guys, I’m so very sorry to hear. Terrible news. She was always very proud and protective of you. Sending love x”

Virgin Media star Lucy Kennedy, who spent several days in Jedward’s family home in Dublin while filming an episode of Living With Lucy in 2016, messaged the 27-year-old pair.

She said: “Boys, I’m thinking of you both. Take care Xxxxxxx.”

RTE’S Sinead Crowley reached out to the twins on social media, rememberin­g Susanna being by her sons’ sides during their two stints at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 and 2012.

She wrote: “Very sorry for your loss. She was such a big part of the Eurovision experience and clearly adored you both.” TRIBUTES Eoghan and Lucy

Fair City actress Jenny Dixon added: “So very sorry to hear. Thoughts and prayers sent xxx”

In their own tribute, John and Edward said of their mum: “Rest In Peace Mammy. You live on through us.

“We will miss you and your smile. You shaped the character of who we are.

“Mammy lived with cancer for many years but was always full of life.

“You live on in our memories and will always be alive in our hearts.” The Twins with mum Susanna Condron devoted mother often came to the defence of her sons in the face of public criticism, once claiming they were “stereotype­d”.

During their appearance in Celebrity Big Brother in 2017, she said: “Jedward are not irritating. In the midst of ferocious arguing in the house, sure,

Jedward are being themselves and bringing good vibes. Jedward have been stereotype­d, verbally abused and shouted down and have not been able to explain themselves.”

She also worked as the singers’ manager and helped them through their early years as pop stars.
