FIRST DATE DRINKS IS A NON NON FOR JULIE

Singleton won over by Irish courtships

FRENCH First Dates Ireland star has told of her surprise at how Irish couples kick off their romance by “going for drinks”.

Julie Parrot, 28, moved to Ireland almost seven years ago, and said one of the biggest differences was in our courting customs.

She added: “When I started to date men here, I was always surprised because they were always asking me to go for drinks.

“In France, if you go out to date a man or something, you go out for a meal. And then if you enjoyed the meal, you would go for some drinks. “The drinking scene is different here but I like the Irish way. It’s less official, more casual and you can go for a drink.”

Julie, from Montpellier, is set up with Co Armagh man Mathew, 28, on tonight’s show and said she often feels her look intimidates men. She added: “I guess it’s because I’m kind of tall and I like to dress sexy.

“Even when men see me for the first time they think I’m confident and I am confident but my look is more to feel chilled and confident in my own skin.”

The beauty therapist, who moved to Ireland to learn English, said Irish men will joke more if they feel anxious compared to French dates.

She added: “Or they will slag you and I just find a better way to deal with it. I prefer that because it is less awkward.” Julie said she hopes to find a confident partner to settle down in Ireland.

She added: “I don’t have a plan to go back home so if I meet someone here it would probably be my main reason to stay, but yeah I love my life here.”

Describing her ideal partner, Julie said: “I’m 5ft 9ins, so I’d like someone as tall as me, if not taller.

“I would like a man who is natural enough, independent, confident in own skin, fit but not mad into the gym.

“I’m a single woman but I’m looking for an extraordinary guy.” not
