Rogers family’s massive winnings ready to collect at Lotto HQ
NINE sisters and brothers can pick up their €175million jackpot today after the funds were wired to Lotto HQ.
The Rogers family, originally from the Naul, Co Dublin, scooped Ireland’s biggest win in last Tuesday’s Euromillions. And it’s believed they will quietly collect their windfall – €19.4million each – over the next few days.
A close friend said: “The family had intended to go
public tomorrow but after a number of meetings, that now looks unlikely.
“Everybody already knows who they are and they have decided to just come in and collect their cheque with as little fuss as possible.”
The family have received legal and financial advice from Lotto advisers over the last week on how best to invest their jackpot – the biggest ever won in Ireland.
If invested wisely the family could earn up to €7million a year in interest alone without ever having to touch their winnings.
The prize was so big it took a week to be wired in from the eight other participating countries.
Tens of millions of euro were sent electronically to the Lotto offices in Dublin from the UK, Spain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg and Portugal.
A Lotto spokesperson said: “We have now received all of the €175million and the winners have 90 days from the date of the draw to collect their winnings.”
A number of the family members live in the Naul and the lucky ticket was bought in Reilly’s Daybreak in the village.
Several others live in Duleek, Bellewstown and Ashbourne, Co Meath.
Before travelling to Dublin to claim their prize one family member kept the golden ticket in an Argos catalogue under their mattress – and couldn’t sleep a wink.
