DON’T LET EVIL MONSTER GO FREE

Mum’s plea to keep daughter’s killer in jail

- BY CIARA PHELAN

A HEARTBROKEN mum yesterday begged for help to keep her daughter’s evil killer caged.

Ciara Campbell, 22, was stabbed more than 27 times by ex-boyfriend Gordon Molloy, who is facing the parole board.

Her mum Paidi said: “He is a twisted evil monster and everybody is at risk if he gets back on to the streets.”

THE heartbroken mum of murdered Ciara Campbell is pleading with the public for help to keep the “twisted monster” who killed her behind bars.

Paidi Campbell is again writing to the parole board begging them not to let Gordon Molloy, 34, out early because she fears he will attack again.

He stabbed his ex-girlfriend more than 27 times in her own home in 2007.

Paidi told the Irish Mirror: “He is a twisted evil monster and everybody is at risk if he gets back on to the streets.

“My message to the public is to write to the Irish Prison Service and ask them not to release him. I fear for women and anyone vulnerable.”

Heartless Molloy received a life sentence in July 2009 after he brutally killed the mum, 22, at her home in Ardmore Gardens, Co Carlow.

He attempted to have sex with her body before moving her remains to a bathtub full of water upstairs where she was found by gardai.

Ciara’s son Jamie, who was only four years old at the time, witnessed some of the horrific attack.

Paidi said Molloy’s actions have left her family with horrific memories.

RUN

She added: “Ciara’s last words to Jamie were to run. He hid for up to five hours until emergency services removed him from his home.

“A paramedic had to cover his face with a Winnie The Pooh bag so he did not see the blood.”

Molloy, who has never shown remorse, has only served 10 years behind bars and this is his second attempt to get out early from Midlands Prison. He will appear in front of the parole board some time this month, with the Campbell family only given a few days’ notice.

Family members cannot attend the meeting but can send letters to the board who have a say in a criminal’s release.

Psycho Molloy is allowed to read the letters from Ciara’s family and friends, something Paidi says should be banned. In her message to board members, Paidi wrote: “I honestly believe Gordon Molloy is a danger, a danger to the lives of others and I implore you not to release him.

“We will never be at peace if we do not do everything in our power to ensure no other innocent woman, child or man is put at risk again.

“We are now the voice of Ciara. We know in our daughter’s heart, there is no instances in life where she would put the lives of others at risk and we ask you to listen to her voice through us and keep murderer Molloy away from the innocent. He will kill again.

“He butchered her body. I still feel physically ill at the mental image of Gordon Molloy stripping my little girl.

“Ciara’s voice has been silenced by him. It is up to you and us to protect others. My opinion is that he will kill again, especially to the next woman who tells him no.”

In a Facebook plea, she has asked people to write their own letters to ensure the safety of others.

Paidi said: “I will ask you to be polite please, state why you think a premeditated murderer, necrophiliac should not be inflicted on us or our neighbourhoods.”

She added she is still angry at the legal system for releasing the heartless killer to spend the day with his own family last June because of good behaviour. Paidi said: “We were given four days’ notice that he would be released and it was a warning for us to avoid Portarlington in case we bumped into him.

“I was told by someone speaking on behalf of Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan that it was in Molloy’s best interests to keep in contact with his family for his rehabilitation back into society.

“When you hear the words ‘life in prison’ while in court, you expect that person to remain locked up. He should be punished for what he did.”

Ciara’s voice has been silenced. It’s up to you & us to protect others PAIDI CAMPBELL CO CARLOW YESTERDAY
