Time for a holiday, Boris? shorely not..

As the UK is not ready to leave the EU on the scheduled date of March 29, the PM is asking Brussels for an extension.

If MPS back her Brexit deal this would delay UK departure up to June 30, in order to get the necessary legislation through Parliament.

If Mrs May’s withdrawal agreement is defeated a third time it would need a longer extension of between nine months and two years so MPS can decide what sort of Brexit they want.

Most likely, as the EU does not want to be seen as the handmaiden of a damaging no-deal. But an extension requires the approval of all 27 EU leaders, plus the terms and length. The EU’S chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, has said the EU wants to know the UK’S reason for the extra time and it must be justified by something new.

Brussels wants the UK Government to hold a series of indicative votes to see which Brexit plan has the most support: May’s deal, no-deal, a second referendum or a Norway-style deal.

Possibly. If it is granted a short extension it won’t have to take part in polls on May 23. But if there is a long extension it may have to elect MEPS.

Tories fear this would be a gift to CAREFREE Boris Johnson strolls on a paradise Italian beach while Britain is gripped by the Brexit crisis he helped to unleash.

The former Foreign Secretary was pictured with blonde lover Carrie Symonds, 30, on Fornillo beach, at Positano on the stunning Amalfi Coast.

Mr Johnson, 54, wore a suit and shirt without a tie for a stroll.

One tourist website describes Fornillo as “a little hidden secret” and says: “Many visitors rush around... and have no idea that this slice of paradise exists.”

The MP has been seeing former Tory communications chief Miss Symonds for months and spent New Year with her at his family’s Greek hideaway.

But Mr Johnson was back in Westminster yesterday, this time wearing a tie, for showdown talks over Brexit with Theresa May.

The PM had hoped to hold the third meaningful vote on her deal this week and use tomorrow’s summit of EU leaders to request a short extension.

But that was scuppered after the Speaker said he would block the vote unless there were significant changes.

Mrs May is now looking to hold the vote next week, in the hope that a long extension will scare pro-brexit MPS into backing her plan, risking a soft Brexit or losing Brexit altogether.
