Thug walks free after admitting attack

A KNIFE psycho who stabbed his gay lover six times after details of their sexual encounters emerged, will not spend a day behind bars. Violent thug Jason Moore, 19, pleaded guilty to assault with intent to cause harm on victim Luke O’brien, who believed he was going to be killed. A court heard the brute shouted after the horror attack: “I know you are going to tell people... if you do, I will find you and stab you to death.”

The accused, who had known the victim since childhood, became involved in a sexual tryst with the 17 year-old before the vicious attack on December 18, 2016. Sgt Alan Crowley told Waterford Circuit Court Moore had become angry when rumours of those sexual encounters became public knowledge in Dungarvan.

The defendant, from Rice’s Street in the town, set up a Snapchat account under a false name and began messaging Mr O’brien again.

The scumbag then arranged a meeting with the victim at a secluded location in Dungarvan Bay under the false pretence that they were “just going to chat”.

The court heard last Thursday that Moore had consumed a considerable amount of drink before the meeting and came armed with a knife that was never found.

Sgt Crowley said the men were walking along “having a normal converhow sation” at first and at some point Mr O’brien felt a cold stabbing sensation and realised he had been stabbed.

He pleaded with his attacker to stop but Moore, who was also 17 at the time, screamed back “this is all your fault, you shouldn’t have told people, and now you have to pay”.

The court heard Mr O’brien received “at least six” stab wounds, and a number of kicks and punches to the face and believed that “he was going to be killed”.

He managed to make his way to a neighbour’s house to raise the alarm and he was later rushed to University Hospital Waterford.

Judge Eugene O’kelly took the defendant’s early guilty plea, remorse and his mental health – which led to two previous suicide attempts – into consideration

He sentenced Moore to a suspended two-year prison term suspended for two years with both families breaking down in tears as the verdict was delivered.
