ERIK MORE CALM

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA @Adrianjkajumba

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN insists there is no need to panic about Tottenham’s ill-timed wobble.

The north Londoners have gone from title hopefuls to a battle to retain their place in the top four after winning just one point from a possible 12.

Playmaker Eriksen said: “A couple of months ago there was suddenly all the chaos.

“Then we won a couple of games, and then we were in heaven again. That’s how it happens in a Premier League club.

“There is actually a nice atmosphere. Of course we would have liked to win the matches, but we actually played okay.

“In the period when it went well, we might have won games late. It is small margins.”

Eriksen dismissed the idea that Spurs’s dip is because Mauricio Pochettino’s players are getting tired and their failure to strengthen their squad in the last two transfer windows coming back to bite them.

“It’s nonsense,” Eriksen, 27, said. “You get used to playing so much. After all, I’ve played many games for quite a few seasons in a row. Rather, it feels unnatural when you don’t play.

“The legs are doing well. We didn’t play at the weekend, and it’s been a long time since we haven’t had matches every third or fourth day.

“It is lovely and a little strange. I’m actually a little restless because

I want to play.”

Spurs return to action after the international break with a trip to league leaders Liverpool on March 31.

Three days later they play their long-awaited first game at their new stadium (above) against Crystal Palace.

Spurs hoped to move in September but their plans were hit by a string of delays, forcing them to extend their use of is Wembley. Eriksen said: “Of course, everyone wanted to get away from Wembley as soon as possible, especially at the start of the season. But it is still our second home.

“It will be good for the fans, and it will be great to come home to ‘White Hart Lane’ – and to a place that feels like our real home ground.

“It’s an exceptional stadium that will mean a lot to the club for many years to come. It helps the club to take the next step.

“We have been waiting for a while at the stadium after all, so it will be great to get ‘home’ to the stadium that will be our home for the many years.”

How long Eriksen plays there remains to be seen. The Dane will have just one year left on his contract this summer and is expected to leave.

His Denmark boss Age Hareide said: “Christian can go anywhere. It’s not a problem.”
