Miracle is only hope for Cavan
Cavan Dublin
Tomorrow, Kingspan Breffni, 2pm
v CAVAN aren’t relegated just yet, but it would take an unlikely set of results for them to avoid another immediate return to Division Two.
Firstly, they must beat Dublin which, even allowing for the fact that this is the All-ireland champions’ worst League campaign since 2012, is a tall order.
Dublin have never lost consecutive games under Jim Gavin and will want to round off the League on a positive note, particularly given that they might not face opposition of this calibre again until July.
Even if Cavan were to pull off a win, while it would be a timely confidence boost in itself, it probably wouldn’t be enough to save them from relegation still.
Given the head-to-head rule when two teams are level on points, they need a three-way tie on four points with Monaghan and Roscommon, which would require Monaghan losing in Mayo while Roscommon would have to draw with Kerry.
Even at that, Cavan would have to beat Dublin by seven points to be sure of overtaking Roscommon.
All of that comes in, it would probably top Cavan manager Mickey Graham’s heroics with Mullinalaghta. Derry (P) Leitrim (P) Waterford Wexford Antrim Limerick Wicklow London
