Why could she not B more open about cash?

-

MEL B was welcomed into Downing Street as a Women’s Aid charity ambassador as part of a campaign to win better support for domestic violence victims.

The former Spice Girl delivered a report to No 10 revealing two-thirds of survivors were economically exploited – and often left penniless – by their abusers.

In doing so, she then told how she had been left with £711 in her bank account following her bitter split with ex-husband Stephen Belafonte in March 2017

“I had no money to buy Christmas presents, so I had help from my best friend who bought all the Christmas dinner for me and bought all the kids presents and stuff.”

It has since emerged that despite her claims Mel was, in fact, very wealthy.

Court documents that were part of her divorce from Belafonte filed in Los Angeles in June 2017 have revealed Mel was earning £147,000 a month.

Forensic accountant Marie Ebersbacher who was commissioned by Belafonte’s lawyers found at the time of their split she had £3.24million in assets.

Also in the documents, Brown lists £62,580 cash in the bank, £51,930 in stocks and bonds, £158,000 diamond engagement ring, two Rolex watches worth £96,000, and her £37,7000 wedding ring.

The Spice Girl should be commended for her support of the cause but to be found disingenuous about her wealth betrays those now undergoing extreme financial hardship through domestic abuse.
