WE ARE IN THE FINAL STRAIGHT, NOW GIVE IT ALL YOU’VE GOT

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

JURGEN KLOPP wants his team – and every Liverpool fan – to be in “fighting mood” for the final title sprint.

The Anfield boss likens the race to become champions to a 400m event... and now it has entered the “last 100 metres” he says it is time “to go with all you have”.

In a rousing message to every member of the Liverpool family ahead of another pivotal showdown with Chelsea, Klopp (right) said: “It is the last part of the season and use all your body, each fibre.

That is what we do.

“The opponent is so strong and in a good moment.

“I want us all in a real fighting mood, all at Anfield and whoever is in front of the television, in a proper aggressive, fighting mood. Go for whatever we can go for.”

It is usually claimed that the league is a marathon not a sprint. But the German said: “If you take a 400m race they are all together at the start. After 200m there are a few all together.

“At 300m two are together and in the last 100m you go with all you have.

“In the last, last part of the season we have to use everything we have.”

That means pounding Chelsea from the first minute, with Klopp insisting they must make the London club feel they are facing something more difficult than they’ve faced before. “Chelsea is in a good moment, so from the first second of the game we have to be a different opponent to all the others they have faced in recent weeks,” he insisted.

Klopp will make changes from the Champions League win against Porto.

Gini Wijnaldum and Sadio Mane missed training in midweek, but were able to do a full session yesterday so will be fit.

Joel Matip also trained after an injury problem, but Dejan Lovren is likely to keep his place, while Andy Robertson (above) returns after suspension.

The battle for midfield control will be important with James Milner (below) ready to get stuck in.

“To me, it is not too important who plays for Chelsea – it is more important how WE are,” said Klopp.

“How can we bring real problems to them because you don’t see that when you analyse them.”
