BRAZEN HITMAN WORE NO MASK

Killer on a bike gunned down new dad ‘over drugs debt’

- BY NIALL O’CONNOR Crime Editor and GAVIN O’CALLAGHAN

A RUTHLESS gunman who blasted a father of one to death in broad daylight did not wear a mask as he cycled around stalking his victim.

Jordan Davis, 22, died in a hail of bullets as he walked his four-month-old son near a community centre in Darndale, North Dublin, on Wednesday afternoon.

Both he and his 22-year-old pal Sean Little, whose body was found the previous night near Balbriggan, are thought to have been murdered over drugs debts.

Asst Comm Pat Leahy pleaded: “What we are saying to the public, parents and young men and women is please, please do not get involved with drugs at any level.”

INVESTIGATORS believe a drug gang dispute over money is the reason Sean Little and Jordan Davis were blasted to death.

Multiple sources have told the Irish Mirror it is understood the pair owed tens of thousands of euro.

It is also believed one of the men, when confronted by the gang about the debt, used the name of a senior Kinahan organised crime group member.

And investigations are under way on a second theory the men may have attacked a house belonging to a serious criminal, although this has not been confirmed.

A source said: “Officially gardai are refusing to be drawn on the motive but so far the investigation is leading directly to the suspicion both these men were drug dealers.

“They fell foul of a major player in Dublin’s gangland, they owed massive money, tens of thousands of euro, and these killings were ordered because of that.

“There are other theories doing the rounds that they attacked houses and other locations but for the time being the chief theory is they got in too deep and owed money they could not pay back.

THREATENED

“One figure being bandied around regarding Jordan Davis is upwards of €30,000 – it is just a massive figure.”

The Irish Mirror has learned hundreds of lines of inquiry have been issued to detectives to follow up.

The horror killings came 16 hours apart. Little was found blasted to death next to a burning car in a laneway near Walshestown, 5km from Balbriggan, North Co Dublin, on Tuesday night.

A source added: “It is now believed he was lured to a meeting with someone he knew but it was all a set-up.”

The murder of Davis happened at 4pm on Wednesday in the Marigold Road area of Darndale, North Dublin.

A source said: “He was walking his four-month-old son. The gunman, on a bicycle, threatened a man who was walking with Davis to take care of the baby. Then Davis fled but was gunned down.

“The unmasked gunman on an orange or red bicycle had been in the area several times over a 24-hour period just hanging around.

“Then he was constantly there for several hours before the shooting.

“It is believed people do not know him but as he wasn’t wearing a mask CCTV in the area will pick his face up.” Yesterday, flowers were left at the location where Little’s body was found in a laneway just off the M1 at junction five.

Gardai continued to search the fields and boreens as tributes were placed at the entrance to the crime scene.

In Darndale, just feet from a nearby school and church, a shrine sprung up to pay tribute to Davis.

Pals placed a framed photograph, candle and flowers with a card. They also left a jambon, bottles of Ribena and Capri Sun.

Fr Edward Quinn, who heard the shots, administered the last rights to Davis.

He revealed: “I had a ring at the door, a lady said come quick. Down the lane there was a chap obviously had been shot.

“I brought the holy oils with me and gave him the last rites because he had obviously lost his life at that point. There is a huge sense of shock and loss here at the moment.”

In Ballymun Garda station, Assistant Commissioner Pat Leahy, flanked by Det Supt Paul Scott and Supt Brian Daly, appealed for help.

Asst Comm Leahy added: “We are appealing to the young people out there at the moment, not only in Dublin but across the country, please do not get involved at any level with the drugs trade. We consistently hear comments, ‘He’s only doing a little bit of low-level dealing, he’s only taking a little bit of gear here and there’.

“What we are saying to the public and to parents and to young men and women is please, please do not get involved at any level.

“Low-level dealing now is enough to have your life taken at a young age and we’ve seen it time and time again across the city over the last
