THE Spice Girls are set to earn more than €10million each on their reunion tour, with Posh profiting despite being absent from the stage.

Merchandise, royalties and lucrative sponsorship deals will see Mel B, Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Mel C net millions of euro each.

In November the hit girl band smashed records when the tour became the fastest ever sale on Ticketmaster.

With tickets costing from €62 to €210 each, the singers will make some serious cash.

MOTIVATIONS

Each has their own motivations for going on tour – probably their last – and some may be in more need of the money than others.

Mel B, 44, was nearly broke after she divorced film producer Stephen Belafonte when their marriage turned toxic in 2017. And, she had to pay an out-of-court settlement of €2million to her former nanny.

Mel C, 45, is thought to have a fortune of around €30million. She turned her hand to theatre, starring in Jesus Christ Superstar.

Geri, 46, is worth around €34million thanks to earnings from a children’s book series, TV roles and song writing royalties.

Emma, 43, is said to be worth €24million and has recently released a solo album after quitting her job with Heart FM.

Victoria Beckham, 45, the richest of all the band with €340million, will make more than €2million – and she may not even attend a show.

o here we are. After months of hype, rumours and outed alleged historical lesbian trysts, the Spice Girls take to the stage tonight for the second reunion tour of their career.

Unless it was all the most incredible double bluff of all time, and Victoria Beckham is actually going to join in, the Spice Rack won’t be full when Emma Bunton, Mel B, Geri Horner and Mel C take to the stage in Dublin’s Croke Park.

For purists, – cough, cough – it’s not proper, if everything was right and just.

But still, it’s better than nothing. As excitement builds for the shows – in Cardiff, Manchester, Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh, Bristol and Emma at Croke Park London, it’s impossible not to give in to nostalgia and remember everything that was great about the Spice Girls.

Loud, colourful and bursting with energy and enthusiasm, they perfectly prepared the ground for the Cool Britannia, New Labour positivity which followed, with the release of their debut single Wannabe in 1996.

In 2019, things are very different. The world feels a much more bleak and scary place. Both Ireland and the UK are simultaneously terrified of and bored to tears by Brexit.

Everything feels very serious and dark. Tell you what I want, what I really really want (oh come on, you didn’t expect to read a Spice Girls thing where that line didn’t feature at least once, did you?) ... a bit of light relief. Some fun. Fantasy. Unashamed showbiz glitz. A distraction from the doom and gloom. It’s clear that in 20 than that when no o they Let a
