Transfer’s window of opportunity

- BY PETER O’HEHIR

LIGHTLY raced course specialist Internal Transfer can register a popular local success for trainer Eric Mcnamara in the JT Mcnamara Ladbrokes Munster National in Limerick tomorrow.

The eight-year-old, a three-time winner around the Greenmount circuit, has raced only three times over fences, scoring twice at this venue and, on his recent seasonal reappearance, finishing a creditable fourth to Poker Party in the Guinness Kerry National in Listowel.

Sent to the front with a mile to race, he was collared at the second last before being beaten eight and a half lengths.

A good jumper, he should prove a more potent force if ridden with a bit more restraint here by Robbie Power and is expected to reverse Listowel form with the third Na Trachtalai Abu, narrowly beaten in this event last year by Spider Web and set to renew rivalry tomorrow.

Mcnamara also runs Black Scorpion, the mount of his son Conor, while Liam Cusack’s Snugsborough Benny, third to Borice in the Galway Plate, is set to shoulder top weight.

On the supporting card, Western Victory will be fancied to complete a hat-trick since joining Declan Queally in the listed mares hurdle.

The top-weight has impressed at both Galway and Gowran Park (when slamming Surin) and, with ground conditions in her favour, might prove too strong for Black Tears and Roscommon scorer Well

Set Up.

Dinons (rated chase) and Cracking Smart (beginners) look likely chase winners for Gordon Elliott.

And Fast Buck, conqueror of recent Grade 3 winner Turnpike Trip in Galway, gets the nod over Gavin Cromwell’s improver Darver Star in the opener.
