Rosanna judges best dressed lady at new Year race meeting

- BY DEMELZA de BURCA

ROSANNA Davison is back at work – just weeks after the birth of her first baby.

The former Miss World, who welcomed baby Sophia Rose Quirke into the world via surrogate on November 21, will judge the Best Dressed Lady competition at Naas Racecourse.

The Grade 1 Lawlor’s of Naas Novice Hurdle on January 5 is the first major race of the year and Rosanna, 35, told yesterday what she will be looking for on the day.

She said: “Due to the time of year, I will be keeping an eye out for those who are able to combine comfort and warmth with style. I think people always look their best when they are at ease in what they are wearing.

“Racewear should be elegant, classy and keep you warm.

“Always remember that a dress isn’t your only choice when it comes to dressing for the races, you can always opt for an elegant jumpsuit or a trouser suit.”

Rosanna advised racegoers should “take advantage of accessories such as hats, scarves and gloves to top off their outfit with some winter glam”.

She added: “The style of hat for this time of year can vary greatly so you can have a bit of fun with that.

“If hats aren’t your thing you could wear a fascinator, head piece or elegant hair accessory.” Glamorous Rosanna said a pop of colour in winter is always welcome to the track.

She said: “Garments such as a nice bright scarf can provide colour and a little warmth.”

Choosing footwear for the races is always one of the most important decisions, she said.

Rosanna added: “Do not wear anything with a taller heel than you’re used to.

“Winter boots can be stylish, warm and elegant, as can classic court shoes.

“Maybe best to avoid strappy sandals, think about the weather and your own comfort.”

The best dressed lady on the day will win a luxurious suite stay at Lawlor’s of Naas Town Centre Hotel, €1,500 worth of hairdressing and accessories from Alan Keville for Hair.

They will also take home a €1,500 voucher from Residence day spa in Naas.

There will also be hair and spa vouchers from the two fashion partners for four runners-up as well as a voucher for lunch for two in Lawlor’s Bistro.
