LOVE Island, climate change and Brexit were just some of the hot topics Irish Twitter users went crazy for this year.

The social media site saw environmen­tal issues rise to the fore during the year with #Climatestr­ike second on the list.

Irish Twitter users are quick to spread the word about important issues, supporting their favourite sports teams and chatting about TV shows.

There was a selection of tweets that got us talking, from fears about Storm Lorenzo sending milk and bread sales through the roof to the online scrap between soccer WAGS Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy.

And who can forget Ireland’s Greg O’shea winning Love Island 2019 with Amber Gill.

Weeks later the pair split up, with the rugby star apparently dumping her over text.
