Jailed murder dad ‘showed early mental illness signs’

Love Island star snubs RTE grub

A PSYCHIATRIST who gave evidence at a 2003 trial that a man was not suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, now says he displayed early signs of the condition a jury heard.

A prosecuting barrister at the Central Criminal Court said the matter of insanity is the issue in the case.

Yusif Ali Abdi is charged with murdering 20-monthold Nathan Baraka Andrew Ali at The Elms, College Road, Clane, Co Kildare, on April 17, 2001.

The 46-year-old of Charleville Road, Phibsboro, Dublin, pleaded not guilty when arraigned before a jury yesterday.

Prosecutor Seamus Clarke said Abdi was twice tried before the Central Criminal Court for the murder of his son.

There was a disagreement in the first trial and he was convicted by a 10-2 majority verdict in May 2003.

In February his case was heard in the Court of Appeal and a retrial was ordered on the basis of new facts.

The trial continues before Mr Justice Alexander Owens and a jury of seven men and five women.

LOVE Island star Yewande Biala showed her hangry side when she turned up at a DWTS photoshoot.

A source said the scientist turned reality TV turned her nose up at the grub provided at the RTE canteen. They added: “It was a bit of a diva moment. Everyone was trying to get along as they were all in the same boat but Yewande did not mix. “When she was not filming she sat on her own with her headphones in and was constantly on her phone. “When you are on big productions like this the catering is always the same. It is not Michelin star dining but it is enough to get you through the day filming. “Yewande was having none of it and said she could not eat what was being provided. Then when a chef appeared to see if they could come up with something the answer was still no.

“In the end someone was sent to Mcdonald’s for her.

“I’m sure she isn’t the first person to refuse to eat from the RTE canteen but it seemed a bit rude.

“It left a bad taste in the mouth of the other cast members who were all just dong their best to make everything go quickly.”

This is the second time in a number of days the 23-year-old Dubliner’s behaviour left a bitter taste with the DWTS team.

YESTERDAY

Last week she slammed a make-up artist on Twitter, while working on an unnamed project we now know to be Dancing With The Stars.

She tweeted: “Not even 10am but... I’m sick and tired of is people mispronouncing my name.”

When contacted RTE declined to be drawn on the issue insisting they had no comment to make.

The Irish Mirror contacted Yewande’s UK agent for a comment but no response was received.

The celebs taking part in this year’s DWTS are Mary Kennedy, Aidan Fogarty, Brian Dowling, Michael Carruth, Yewande Biala, Fr Ray Kelly, Grainne Gallanagh, Sinead O’carroll, Lottie Ryan, Ryan Andrews and Glenda Gilson.
