SEAN GOES FROM MAN UTD LINKS TO RED CARD & INJURY

- BY IAN MURTAGH

SEAN LONGSTAFF celebrates 12 months in Newcastle’s first team by claiming he has ridden an emotional rollercoaster since making his debut.

It was in January last year that the Geordie midfielder broke through with a series of outstanding performances which led to speculation of a bigmoney move to Manchester United.

But despite being one half of the Premier League’s most famous sibling double act following kid brother Matty’s progress this term, the 22-yearold has had his setbacks too.

“So for me, I’ll be pretty honest, it’s been tough at times.

“That is why you’ve got to have good people around you – and I have that in the dressing room and with my family at home.

“They have helped me through it all.”

In the past week, Longstaff has shown signs of rediscovering the form which made him one of the most talked-about youngsters i n the country.

Despite fellow midfielder Jonjo

Shelvey being available again and Newcastle’s injury situation gradually clearing up, Longstaff is keeping his fingers crossed he has done enough to retain his place in the Toon engine room.

He added: “Hopefully, I’m through all the upheaval now.

“I’m just focusing on trying to
