Daz fit and ready for Hammers bow

- BY PAUL O’HEHIR

DARREN RANDOLPH has declared himself fully fit ahead of his second coming at West Ham.

And the Ireland goalkeeper is poised to go straight into the Hammers team for tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Everton at London Stadium.

Randolph hasn’t played for Middlesbrough since November 24 because of a nagging thigh injury.

And West Ham fans questioned the wisdom of re-signing Randolph on Wednesday because of that, considering first choice Lukasz Fabianski is sidelined again.

But Randolph issued an upbeat injury bulletin yesterday and said: “I’m back training and did a session on my own today.

“It’s been a long process but injury wise I’m fine. Everything is healed and I’m

fully fit. People will say what they want to say and I can’t help that, that’s just part of the game and it happens.”

With the Euro 2020 play-off semi-final against Slovakia looming on March 26, both Randolph and Ireland boss Mick Mccarthy are hoping he can make hay before then.

And new West Ham boss David Moyes (right) confirmed yesterday that Randolph - his first signing on his own return to the club - is set to face the Toffees tomorrow.

Moyes said: “Ideally we’d have liked to have waited a week longer but Lukasz’s injury has meant we’ve brought that forward. We’re happy with him so far and we’re happy to take the risk with it. He’s trained fine today and we’re glad to have him on board.

“It’s not a great risk because he’s been training for a while now. He’s been doing all the work he’s had to do and hopefully he’ll be ready for the weekend.

“I’ve got the choice between three goalkeepers and he’s certainly in that.”

Randolph, 32, was signed as competition for Polish international Fabianski who missed three months of the season earlier in the campaign because of a hip injury. He is sidelined for a further two weeks with a recurrence of that problem.
