A WOMAN has been charged with the murder of a man who was allegedly stabbed at a car parking space.

Christina Anderson, from Brownsbarn Wood, Kingswood, West Dublin, appeared at the city’s district court yesterday.

She was charged with a single count of murder in connection with the death of Gareth Kelly.

The 39-year-old’s body was found next to his car in the Brownsbarn Wood estate shortly after 7am on Tuesday morning.

He had suffered stab wounds and died at the scene.

Det Sgt Dara Kenny gave evidence of arresting, charging and cautioning Anderson yesterday afternoon.

The 38-year-old mother had been arrested close to the scene where Mr Kelly’s body was found.

It’s believed he had parked his car there overnight at a spot that was not his own.

Anderson was questioned for 24 hours in Clondalkin Garda station before being charged and brought to the Criminal Courts of Justice shortly after 3pm yesterday.

Dressed in a blue T-shirt and black leggings she sat throughout the brief hearing.

She made no reply when charged, Det Sgt Kenny told the court.

Anderson’s solicitor Michael Kelleher requested she receive medical attention in custody.

Judge Colin Daly requested the governor of the Dochas Centre have the accused medically and psychiatrically assessed and ordered a psychiatric report.

He remanded her in custody to appear again on March 4.

Mr Kelly’s family from Killinarden in Tallaght, South Dublin, have appealed for privacy.

Yesterday floral tributes were placed close to the scene.

Mr Kelly had been staying at a nearby house with his partner when he went to start his car and was allegedly attacked.
