Dog owners fuel obesity with snacks

DOG owners are fuelling a canine obesity crisis by giving their pets treats from the dinner table.

Nine out of 10 owners feed their dogs scraps three times a week, a survey found. And 66% of dog owners have no idea their pet should only be fed 2-3% of their ideal body weight a day.

The poll of 2,000 people by pet food firm Natural Instinct found 40% wanted to adopt a better diet for their pet.
