HEROIC Dublin firefighters and members of the Civil Defence Force were involved in a dramatic river rescue.

They rushed to the River Liffey when the alarm was raised after multiple 999 calls yesterday.

The person was taken from the water at Heuston Station as the crew jumped in to help the member of the public in difficulty.

The crew fought tirelessly to keep the person afloat until their rescue vessel got there.

A spokesman said: “Members of Dublin Civil Defence Force secured the person until our shallow water jet boat arrived.”

Talking to Ellen and, above, with Friends pals

COURTENEY Cox says she is missing the “physical touch” of her partner.

The Friends star admitted she is longing for her Snow Patrol boyfriend Johnny Mcdaid.

The 55-year-old told The Ellen Degeneres Show this is the longest time the pair have spent apart since meeting over seven years ago.

The actress explained that Derry man Johnny, 43, had left the country just before the Covid-19 restrictions came in.

He was on his way to Switzerland to write songs and had to go to the UK first and then got stuck.

Courteney said: “I have not seen him for so long. You don’t realise, and we spend a lot of time on Facetime

but I just miss his physical touch. This is hard.

“He left, he was supposed to go to Switzerland to write, but he had to go to England first and then all of a sudden it happened, they called quarantine, so it has been so long.”

The actress, best known for playing Monica on iconic sitcom Friends revealed she has been killing time during the restrictions by re-watching the show to rejig her memory of some of the most popular moments.

The actress admitted the move came due to her limited recollection of a lot of the scenes, and told how she often gets caught out with

Friends trivia quizzes, unable to answer the questions.

She said: “I remember the people and specific things that happened, but my memory is not great when it comes to fun times. I remember pain I think.”

As the new biggest fan of the iconic sitcom, Cox said the Thanksgiving episodes are her favourite, but told she most enjoyed her time playing “overweight” Monica.

She said: “I felt so free. ‘I could dance… like you [Ellen] and just sit up and dance and have no problem.

“Those are really good episodes.”
