Wedding day feels like a lifetime ago says Grainne

GRAINNE Seoige admitted her wedding feels like “a lifetime ago” as she opened up about newly married life in lockdown in South Africa.

The TV host, 46, tied the knot with Leon Jordaan in an intimate ceremony in Kildare in December.

However, currently under lockdown in South Africa, where they run a diamond jewellery business, she admitted her special day has never felt so far away.

Recalling her nuptials with pal Maura Derrane on The Today Show With Maura And Daithi, the Galway woman said: “It was such an intimate occasion.

FORTUNATE

“You couldn’t have that now, you just wouldn’t be able to have that kind of occasion, so we were fortunate to have our wedding when we did.

“Little did we know what was coming at that stage.”

Opening up about life cooped up with her new hubby, she added: “It is a challenge isn’t it? It’s not like you can escape to the pub of you need it or go and meet the girls for lunch if you need it or whatever it is that you need.

“If you need a little valve decompression it’s not available anymore but actually it’s been really reassuring for us.

“We’ve gotten on really really well during this time.

“It’s been a wonderful test and in a way, I think we’ve done really really well.”

Grainne also noted on the difference in the severity of lockdown between South Africa and Ireland, revealing how she struggled with being unable to get out of the house for even a breath of fresh air.

She said: “We weren’t allowed to leave the house at all. I know in Ireland you had this, for a long time, two kilometre radius in which you can exercise.

“They’ve just sort of relaxed things ever so slightly in the last week so we have a little bit more freedom than we had, but it was very tough for a while.”
