114 waiting for a hospital bed

- BY KATIE GALLAGHER Showbiz Reporter

A TOTAL of 114 patients were waiting for beds in Irish hospitals yesterday.

Of this figure, 105 were in emergency departments while nine were in wards elsewhere.

The worst hit hospital was University Hospital Limerick with 26 patients while Cork University Hospital was second worst off with 17 patients.

In Dublin, the worst hospitals were University Hospital Tallaght and St Vincent’s with seven each.

A number of hospitals recorded no patients waiting.

NICKY Byrne shared a throwback snap of the Westlife’s first photo shoot.

The band, made up of Nicky, Shane Filan, Mark Feehily and Kian Egan, started out as Westside with Brian Mcfadden before they found fame as Westlife.

And taking a trip down memory lane, the Dubliner came across an old flyer that hailed Ronan Keating as their top fan and credits the lads as “the band of 1999”.

It read: “From the same stable that brought you Boyzone, Westside are the latest Irish sensations ready to take on the world.

“Kian, Brian, Mark, Nicky and Shane have been together for under a year and are already tipped for the top, even before they’ve released a record.

“Ronan Keating loves them so much, he’s decided to co-manage the band, offering the boys invaluable advice to guide them throughout their career.

“With the voices of angels and heavenly songs, there is no doubt that Westside will become the band of 1999.” Making fun of the blast from the past, the now bearded DWTS host, inset, said: “Look what I found! Our first-ever professional photoshoot and flyer.

“As it says if you swipe right, ‘With the voices of angels and heavenly songs’ and Ronan Keating I didn’t know you loved us that much!!”

Brian quit the band in 2004 and has since teamed up with Boyzone’s Keith Duffy as Boyzlife.
