TYSON ..AND ON ..AND ON

Fury: I don’t fight for money or fame or belts.. I do it to keep myself mentally happy.. why should I walk away while I’m still YOUNG

-

TYSON FURY claims he can rule the heavyweight division for another decade.

Fury has seen how Wladimir Klitschko reigned as No.1 for nine years until he dethroned him and believes he could be dominant for as long.

The WBC and lineal champion is relatively young for a heavyweight at 31 and says he is still hungry to continue when he returns after boxing’s shutdown.

Fury will have his rescheduled trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder later this year before possibly two fights with fellow Brit Anthony Joshua in 2021.

“I’ve achieved more than any active heavyweight alive today,” said the unbeaten Gypsy King. “No one can come close to what I’ve achieved.

“I’m happy with where I am in my career and what I’m doing. If I never have another boxing fight, I’ll be happy. I’ve completed the game.

“I’ve won every single belt in boxing. From the English title right to the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. All done, all finished. Considered the best, done.

“If we get past this thing, which hopefully we will, then we’re going to keep boxing and just keep taking on contenders.

“Klitschko did it until he was 39. A lot of the great champions are continuing and continuing.

“I ain’t boxing for money, I ain’t boxing for fame, I ain’t boxing for a belt. I’m boxing because it keeps me mentally happy and I like to do it.

“Why would I walk away from boxing when I’m still only young?”

Fury, who has a 30-0-1 record, is a two-time world heavyweight champion and has held all the major belts.

He has taken huge satisfaction from silencing the doubters who have written him off repeatedly throughout his career.

Fury claims his biggest achievement is inspiring those who are suffering mental health issues because he has beaten his own demons.

“They said I’d never do it, they said I would never have the dedication,” he told Sky Sports.

“Then they wrote me off because I wasn’t the body beautiful like everybody else. But here I am today, the stand-alone heavyweight, the leading superstar in boxing.

I’m still fat, still ugly, still bald, still a big man, and I’m still unstoppable. “Nothing I have done in my career can compare with what I have done in my mind.

“To come back from where I was to where I am today, to be back normal again and be back thinking straight again, that’s the biggest achievement anyone can ever do.

“I believe I done a bit more than boxing through mental health terms.

“I’m talking about the people I have touched, the people I have helped along the way. I think I have been a light to those people.”
