Fish recalled in allergy risk safety alert

A SAFETY alert was issued for a fish product over an undeclared ingredient which may pose a risk.

Some packets of Young’s Simply Breaded 2 extra large fish fillets have been recalled from sale.

Milk is an ingredient but is not listed on the label.

This may pose a risk to those who have an allergy or intoleranc­e.

A Food Safety Authority of Ireland spokesman said: “This may make the affected batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of milk or its constituen­ts.”

Affected batches are coded: AC L 0097, AB L 0114 and AB L 0116 and a best before October 2021.

The product comes in a 300g pack size and contains two fillets.

AN elderly cocooning couple thought they were going to die after a gang armed with baseball bats stormed their home.

It’s thought the victims, who are aged in their 70s, were targeted in a case of “mistaken identity” in Kildare in the early hours of Tuesday.

Just after 2am, the gang began smashing the ground-floor windows of the family home in Drumcree Court before wrecking their cars. The couple’s children, who want to remain anonymous, said their parents will find it hard to recover from the shocking incident.

They told a local Facebook group: “Both we and the gardai believe it was a case of mistaken identity.

“My parents are in their 70s and are really shook up by it. Their house was attacked by several people who smashed the ground-floor windows in the front of the house and the windows of the two cars.”

He added: “Officers are investigat­ing a criminal damage incident that occurred at Drumcree Court, Kildare.

“A number of cars as well as windows of a residence were damaged during the incident.

“No arrests have been made and investigat­ions are ongoing.

“No further informatio­n is available at this time.”
