Healthy Twitter support left me feeling humble

-

I WAS blown away by the response to my brief encounter with the Health Secretary.

The reaction, from far and wide, was incredible – and often humbling.

BBC Football Focus host Dan Walker tweeted: “Words Matt Hancock never thought he would say... ‘And now we go to Robbie Savage.’ Well played @Robbiesavage8.”

I was also gratified by the level of support from people I don’t know. Here’s a brief selection from the colossal response on Twitter:

Andy Thompson: “Once again politicians not answering a simple question. We know the risks but why one sport and not another?”

@seansuke25: “Didn’t think I would ever be saying this but @Robbiesavage8 has hit the nail on the head big time. Thanks for

speaking on behalf of all 1:1 football coaches.”

Zack Grimes: “Coaches to disinfect equipment between sessions (tick). No handling of cash (tick). One parent/carer to remain in a coned area away from the session (tick). Under-18 player and coach to carry out drills with 2m distance (tick).”

@frannyporter: “Robbie is one of us. Whatever you think of his

dire footballing skills. He stuck up for us today.”

@John14015945: “One of my son’s friends has started having tennis lessons again. Hopefully the government/fa will come to some kind of safe arrangement, it’s terrible for kids now.”

Johnny Pritchard: “In theory it is easier for grassroots to return than any other level of football, plenty of space for parents to

social distance... kids don’t generally sweat as much as adults and don’t spit!”

Piers Morgan: “Kudos to @Robbiesavage8 for getting stuck into the Govt at today’s briefing with more fire in his belly than I’ve seen from most of the journalists in two months.”

And finally... Jake Humphrey: “Robbie Savage for Prime Minister?”
