GARDAI on a social distancing patrol halted a young couple allegedly engaged in a sex act on a packed beach.

Videos of the pair were shared on social media after the public display at an upmarket coastal suburb.

They were filmed as they got frisky underneath a blanket at Sandycove in South Dublin as the mercury hit 27C on Tuesday.

Dozens of families and children were on the beach at the time.

A garda halted the antics when he stepped in to speak to the couple who appeared embarrassed.

There were no arrests in connection with the incident that was discussed by broadcaster Pat Kenny, who lives nearby in Dalkey.

During his Newstalk show, he told listeners: “It’s an interesting area to live in at the moment.

“There is a video up of a man who appears to be having sex with his female partner in Sandycove in front of dozens and dozens of very young children.

“She has a blanket over her then you hear this voice from a young fella saying, ‘Look at your man shaggin’ his missus!’

“And then a policeman arrives and interrogates the two individuals.”

Kenny also outlined other anti-social and bizarre behaviour on his doorstep over the Bank Holiday weekend.

He said: “Another video online outside Teddy’s Ice STUNNED Host Pat Kenny Cream and you have a group of teenagers males and females and they attack a female.

“About 14-years-old the whole lot of them, she’s on the ground and they are kicking her, attacking her, that’s another scene from our lives at the moment .

“You see loads of people getting on the Dart with their bikes, too lazy to cycle home.

“Last evening walking through Dalkey, Castle Street, what appears to be a sinkhole appears in the road.

“Extraordinary goings on, when you are working and living at home and keep your eyes open you see all sorts of things.”

Meanwhile, couples who don’t share a house have been warned intimate contact is still banned under lockdown restrictions.

The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan also backed advice on people limiting sexual partners to limit the spread of

Covid-19.
