GARDAI are continuing to probe an attack on one of the teen killer’s of schoolgirl Ana Kriegel.

There have been no charges or arrests over the violent assault on Boy A at the Oberstown Detention Centre two weeks ago.

It’s understood officers have reviewed CCTV footage of the alleged incident and a spokesman said the “investigation into this matter is ongoing”.

Boy A was beaten up as he watched TV in the facility in North Co Dublin on May 24.

He is serving a life sentence for the brutal murder of 14-year-old Ana in May 2018 which he committed when he was just 13.

The teenager was also sentenced to 12 years for a violent sexual assault. He must serve at least 12 years before he can be considered for release.

His co-accused, Boy B, was sentenced to 15 years for Ana’s murder with a review after eight years. He was also 13 at the time.

It’s understood both killers keep to themselves in the youth detention centre which houses around 50 inmates aged from 13 to 18. They do not share the same unit.

Oberstown has been in a Covid-19 lockdown with only virtual video visits from relatives allowed.

From next week the teenagers will be able to get socially distanced family visits again as restrictions are eased.

The attack on Boy A was the first reported incident of trouble involving Ana’s killers since they were convicted almost exactly one year ago on June 18 after a seven-week trial that shocked the nation.

Sources said the pair have settled into the routine at the centre which doesn’t refer to itself as a prison.

They are entitled to attend school, do their junior certificates and use sports and leisure facilities.

Boy B has launched an appeal against his murder conviction on a number of grounds.

The trial heard he had lured Ana to a derelict house in Lucan, West Dublin, where she was attacked by Boy A.
