ODSONNE WON’T ED FOR EXIT

ODSONNE EDOUARD has dropped a big hint he’s staying at Celtic as he rammed home his 10-in-a-row target.

The striker (above) was named the club’s Player of the Year yesterday after racking up 28 goals in all competitions last season.

But it’s the upcoming campaign the club are now focusing on with Neil Lennon (inset) desperate to see the France U21 star commit as his side go for a historic 10th title in succession.

The striker has two years left on his current deal that runs until June 2022.

The manager earlier this week revealed he has opened talks with Edouard over a new deal and the former Paris Saint-germain youth has hinted he’s on board for another title tilt as he discussed winning the award.

Edouard said: “Every season we want to win the title.

“This year is nine in-a-row and next year I hope it is 10 in-a-row. This will be historic for the club.

“It’s very important for the club, for the fans, for the team, for all of the staff. We now need to go back to work for next season, and I hope that we can win this title for 10 in-a-row.”

Celtic stars reported to Lennoxtown yesterday for medical assessment before beginning pre-season today.

And Edouard lifted the lid on his fitness regime during the coronavirus lockdown.

He said: “I’ve worked hard throughout lockdown. Working alone is not easy, but I’ve kept my fitness up and I look forward to getting back to training.

Meanwhile, former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan last night urged Scottish football to set an immaculate example when it’s allowed back out of coronavirus lockdown tomorrow.

He said: “Common sense and common decency says you have to try to stick to the rules as best you can.

“It doesn’t matter what government makes up what rules. Common sense tells you that’s what you have to do to look after other people. Simple.

“There’s no doubt there is more scrutiny on football than any other sport. Or any other business. Unless you’re a politician that is!”
