WISDOM LOOKS SMART CHOICE

-

IT MAKES sense to back Well Of Wisdom despite top weight in the Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap (2.05) at Sandown.

He has to give the weight away on his first foray into this sphere, but Charlie Appleby’s son of Oasis Dream can prove up to the job.

Having run down the field behind Arizona in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot last June, Well Of Wisdom hit the bullseye in Listed grade at Longchamp the following month, before taking home the silver medal from Group 3 events at Deauville and Badenbaden.

Appleby’s (right) colt was back in the winner’s enclosure after a one-mile Listed test at Meydan in February and, unlikely to be troubled by the step back to seven furlongs, still has the potential to go past his 103 handicap rating.

The Listed Unibet Scurry Stakes (2.40) presents a good opportunity for AL RAYA to make a winning return to the fray.

Now trained in partnership by Simon Crisford and his son Ed, the filly scored in Group 3 company at Chantilly last August – and misses having to carry a penalty for that victory by one day.

Stuart Williams gave

THE GILL

BROTHERS a favourable mention in these pages this week – and the grey makes plenty of appeal in the Unibet “15-To-go” Every ITV Royal Ascot Race Handicap (3.15).

The son of Mukhadram followed scores at Kempton and Chelmsford with two podium efforts in handicaps at the course, and PJ Mcdonald’s mount has more to offer as he makes his second appearance on turf.

At Newbury, CABALETTA gets the vote to put down an Investec Oaks marker by beating seven rivals for the Listed British Stallion Studs Ebf/mansionbet Abingdon Fillies’ Stakes (3.00).

The form of her one-length defeat of Frankly Darling at Yarmouth last October received a boost when the runner-up scored at Newcastle 12 days ago

Just five runners assemble for the It’s Not Rocket Science With Mansionbet Handicap (1.50), in which GOLD SOUK is expected to thrive for the chance to tackle 10 furlongs after second placings in one-mile nurseries at Ripon and Doncaster last autumn.

The Listed Watch And Bet With Mansionbet At Newbury Maggie Dickson Fillies’ Stakes (2.25) can go to the William Haggas-saddled MABTASIMAH.
